This generation and the next

BT's Home Hub is a wireless router – the rectangular box that connects your computer to your BT phone line, providing broadband wirelessly all over your house2. It's been designed to update itself automatically so you can get the best out of your broadband now and in the future.

There are 8Mb (Mega bits) in 1MB (Mega Byte). An 8Mb connection can download approximately 8,000,000 bits in a second (1MB per second) at the peak speed.

5GB per month is enough for you to enjoy hours of surfing the net and downloading a small amount of content – for example: large email attachments, photos, music tracks and video clips.

If you regularly exceed this download allowance, you can still continue to use your broadband, but we may contact you to discuss an upgrade to Option 2.

How it works

When your broadband is activated, you get a new BT Broadband Talk phone number – in addition to your existing phone number. It's like having a second line into your house.

Simply log on to activate your BT Broadband Talk account. Then you can make calls using the BT Hub Phone or your existing touchtone home phone, when plugged into your BT Total Broadband router (which you get with your order). When you make calls, they are routed over the Internet through your broadband connection, saving you money.

And don't worry, your existing phone number will still work and you can make and receive calls over both this and your BT Broadband Talk number at the same time.

BT Home IT Install lets you put your feet up whilst we install your broadband

BT Home IT Install appointments start from £50, charged to your BT Bill

Monday to Friday (8am to 6pm) installations are £50. A more convenient evening (6pm to 8pm) or Saturday slot (8am to 6pm) installation is £65.

You can also book more time for an engineer to set up additional computers or help you go wireless. These are charged per half hour at £30 during weekdays and £40 for an evening or Saturday slot.
